Tree Disease Diagnosis
Our team of foresters and arborists is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of tree diseases. From identifying diseased and declining trees to designing comprehensive treatment plans for afflicted areas, our staff will always provide knowledge, expertise, and advice on the best way to proceed.
Emerald Ash Borer Treatment
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an insect that bores through the bark of the ash tree, leaving a “D” shaped hole in the bark. Signs and symptoms of EAB are dead and dying branches in the canopy, new sprouts at the base of the tree, bark splits, and woodpecker feeding. Our certified and licensed pesticide applicators are trained in completing tree injections to prevent or combat this disease.
Oak Wilt Treatment
Oak wilt is caused by a fungus spread through root grafts between neighboring trees and by insects. The infection causes leaf defoliation and death in a short period of time, sometimes as little as two months. Symptoms of oak wilt include browning leaves beginning at the leaf tip and moving toward the stem. As the disease progresses, limbs die off and cracks appear in the bark. Our foresters are trained in methods to help save these beloved trees.
Tree Planting and Pruning
Public spaces, residences, and commercial settings benefit when trees are planted with a long-term vision in mind, followed by wise pruning. We’ll help you at each stage of the process.
Karner Blue Butterfly Surveys
The Karner Blue Butterfly is an endangered species that feeds only on the leaves of the wild lupine plant. Our foresters are trained in identifying Karner Blue Butterfly habitat and satisfying federal, state, and local regulations that require their protection in areas where they may be able to sustain a population. Steigerwaldt is committed to the protection of endangered species, healthy wildlife habitat, and promoting ecosystem management.
