Forest Analyst / Inventory Lead

Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc., is currently looking to fill one full-time Forest Analyst/Inventory Lead position based out of the Tomahawk office. Responsibilities include managing forest inventories in remote regions of the country, forest biometry, and assisting with timber resource analysis projects. This is a diverse position, with opportunities for growth in fields relating to forest inventory and analytics.

The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related Forest Sciences
  • Ability to travel and manage out-of-state forest inventories in remote locations up to 35 percent of the time
  • Inventory leadership experience involving managing logistics, production, and data quality
  • Minimum of two years of experience in forest inventory and analysis
  • Experience with forest inventory and GPS navigation software and hardware
  • Physically fit and able to work in adverse terrain
  • Experience with ESRI ArcMap 10.x GIS software and GIS mapping and analysis
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on technical report writing
  • Experienced using Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Desire to develop a career in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business
  • Ability to work independently in varied settings, both in the field and with clients and other professionals
  • Enthusiastic learner, with a strong interest in continually developing forest analytics skills
  • Interest in involvement in professional organizations to further education and develop working relationships with other professional foresters
  • A team player who is self-confident, respectful, curious, flexible, and able to work with other professionals in a fast-paced consulting business
  • Current valid driver’s license, and a personal vehicle suitable for forestry work (mileage is reimbursed)

Additional expertise useful to the position, but not required:

  • Familiarity with TCruise and/or other inventory software
  • Forest biometrics
  • Forest modeling, including USDA Forest Service Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS)
  • Experience and interest in UAVs (drones) for data collection
  • Querying and using Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) and Timber Products Output (TPO) data

Tree Harvest Workers

Steigerwaldt Tree Farms, LLC, is currently looking for seasonal help for Christmas tree harvest. This position requires substantial lifting, work in all weather, and evening and weekend work. Work entails bailing, hauling, and loading trees on trucks at Tomahawk location.

Survey Technician / Field Surveyor

Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc. is  currently looking to fill one full-time Survey Technician / Field Surveyor position in the Tomahawk office.  This is considered an entry-level position, though previous professional experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate would meet the following criteria:

  • Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Technician, or a related field is ideal, but other backgrounds would be considered
  • Desire to develop a career in a fast-paced and diverse consulting business, with future opportunities for professional advancement
  • Ability to work independently in varied settings, both in the field and office with other professionals
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of RTK GPS and robotic total station equipment applications is desired
  • Competent with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to travel and conduct overnight work away from home from time to time
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Interest in involvement in professional organizations to further education and develop working relationships with other professionals
  • A team player who is respectful, flexible, curious, and self-confident

Following the successful completion of a probationary period, full-time employees receive a full benefit package including health insurance, vacation, paid holidays, 401k, and profit sharing. Salaries commensurate with experience.
